Medal of Honor goes Modern Warfare
By Scopestyle on 2010-02-21
The newest EA game within the Medal of Honor franchise named (just simply) "Medal of Honor" is taking the game in a new direction. Well, more like an existing direction, because Medal of Honor goes Modern Warfare. This game promises to be much darker and mature compared it's previous games. On a sidenote, this will be the very first (M) rated Medal of Honor game, the series never recieved a higher raring, or lower then (T) for Teen. MoH - Now not only for kiddies!
The trailer is "100% in-game footage"
Medal of Honor has a scheduled release of fall 2010 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
The multiplayer bèta of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is going on on the Playstation 3 this very moment, the demo wil also be playable on the PC. The plan was to launch the Bèta for PC this year, but due to the HUGE SUCCES of the Playstation 3 version, the little Dice bastards have decided to reschedule to the first quarter of 2010.
And just to make the people who are not blessed with a Playstation 3 want to play the game just a littlebit more, some eyecandy:
Let's talk money. How much did it cost to develop Modern Warfare 2? And how much money did Activision spent on marketing? An article in LA Times gives some insight in these questions about the launch of Modern Warfare 2. According to insiders the game's development was $40 to $50 million U.S. dollars. Including the budget for the launch of the game the costs came to a whopping $200 million. This is on the same level as a decent Hollywood blockbuster and a shitload of money to spend on a videogame.
So for marketing alone Activision spent an amount of $150 to $160 milion. The game's profits? $550 million in the first 5 days after the release. This even beats Hollywood movies like Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince which (only) made $394 million, and beat ex-titleholder GTA IV, which made a total of $500 million in the same period.
Morale to this story, Modern Warfare 2 sucks, but it's making a shitload of money. Probably enough to proceed to Modern Warfare 3 .. cashcow anyone?
Let met just start out by saying the magic word, multiplayer! Because that's what this game is really all about. In Borderlands you are part of a small team of mercenaries in search of the mysterious Vault, killing everything on your way to reach your goal. The game has a billion different weapons, loads of missions, skill upgrades, dark humour and bigass creatures to blast to hell. The more people are playing together (up to 4 people) the harder the enemies are, and the better the loot will be, so it's allways a fun challenge.
I've been playing it a few days with some friends and it's definitely worth checking out!
Even thought Call of Duty has been facing quite some negative publicity lately, with uptight Australia being "not amused" showing terrorism like it does in this game, and Infinity Ward no longer supporting the old server model (IWNET will replace punkbuster, browsing between servers is no longer an option). I'd still like to share the Modern Warfare 2 trailer because honestly, it does look pretty sweet!
In this game you witness the return of John "Soap" McTavish. Now as the leader of the international Task Force 141. The story continues the narrative after Modern Warfare. With the world facing dangerous political instability in Russia, a Russian terrorist group is trying to take the troubled country’s weapons stockpile. Makarov, the leader of that group, also happens to be an associate of Zakhaev, the man responsible for the first games’ nuclear attack.
The gameplay will be wide open and has a lot of variety, new stuff in this game include using ice picks to go over the mountains, along with snow mobile chases, and other cool shit. However, there is another downside to this game .. no co-op in this version.
Here's an interesting trailer I'd like to share, I played Assassins creed on the PS3 and even though it was a really cool game to play it seriously lacked variety in gameplay. Assasin's Creed II promises to be different.
You will take the role of Ezio Auditore di Firenze, a young Italian nobleman who's family has been murdered, the goal of the game is revenge on the families who are responsible. The game is set in the Renaissance during the year 1486, 295 years later then the first game. In the setting of this game you will find yourself in real places like Venice, Florence and the Tuscany countryside.
Assassin's Creed II is due for release on the PS3 and Xbox360 on the 20th of November, the PC version will be released in the first quarter of 2010.
